The Australian Magpie, whilst having similar colourings to the European Magpie is in fact unrelated. There are a number of magpie species in Australia. Our replica is of the northern species with less white on its back than the southern species. These birds are remarkably intelligent and have the capacity to recognise friendly human faces. And unfriendly ones!
