Bongos consist of two differently-sized drums attached to each other. The larger drum, known as the “hembra” (meaning female in Spanish), and the smaller drum, called the “macho” (meaning male), are tuned to different pitches. When played together, they create various tones and rhythms in music.

Children can enjoy playing the IQ Plus Bongos by placing them between their legs. They adjust the “macho” drum against one thigh and tilt the “hembra” drum downward against the opposite calf. By striking the drums with their fingertips, they can begin making music.

Bongos are popular among beginner percussionists because they are easy to learn. Children can have fun creating different rhythms and sounds either with other percussion instruments in a band or by playing solo.

Please remember that our musical instruments are educational tools, not toys. They should always be used under the close supervision of responsible educators and caregivers to ensure children’s learning, development, enjoyment, and safety.
