This doll, designed by indigenous artist Sherren Gross and produced with approval from fair trade artisans at Artisans Effort in Kolkata, pays royalties to the indigenous artist. The outfit worn by the mother and child depicts possum skin and features traditional emblems of the Nunukul, Nughie, and Gorenpul people from Mijerribah (North Stradbroke Island) in Quandamooka (Moreton Bay), including a pearl shell with a dolphin and snake.
The doll measures approximately 20cm in height when sitting, with a total length of about 31cm. Copyright is held by Sherren Gross, 2018.
Artisans Effort, a producer-based organization, deeply understands and addresses the needs and challenges faced by its artisans. Your purchase not only enriches the lives of producers but also supports funding for a school established in January 2014 by Artisans Effort founders Ejaz and Shaista in Asanol, West Bengal. The school provides education to paying students and covers expenses for some needy students.
