A Cuisenaire Rod is a rectangular rod whose colour and size varies. A one centimetre rod is the shortest and a 10 centimetre rod is the longest. They quickly became a standard classroom tool after being developed by a Belgian teacher 75 years ago. They are also popular with Montessori schools.
