INSPIRING PLAY SPACES

The learning environment is often referred to as ‘the third teacher’. A purposeful, well organised and aesthetically pleasing learning environment allows for optimal play.
Consider your own environments, do you prefer cooking in a clean kitchen? Are you able to better focus on the task in an organised office?

‘Inspiring spaces for young children’ (Sandra Duncan) talks about seven principles which support the development of inspiring play spaces. These are:
1. Nature inspires beauty
2. Colour generates interest
3. Furnishing defines space
4. Texture adds depth
5. Displays enhance environment
6. Elements heighten ambiance
7. Focal points attract attention.

I’m sharing my favourite play spaces from the insta community. These play spaces inspire me and make me want to play!
Do you have a play space to share? Head to our Instagram @soundsations_qld, TAG in your image and use the hashtag #inspiringplayspaces and I’ll continue sharing my favourites each week.
